update: I have long moved on.. and am now using the N95 8GB / what a difference… I will write about it later
I love it… I love it… I love it…
Why?
It looks good, it is small enough to fit in any pocket. It has WIFI. I can run skype, messenger, Google talk and sip via fring. I can run Google maps (the mobile application) and Gmail (the mobile application).
And the best of all? I can surf for podcasts, download them directly with wifi and listen to them right away. This is podcasting 2.0
See here the video of how to do a call on fring (note it is not the E65 which is displayed)
I have purchased the Opera browser for mobiles which I believe works a lot better then the standard Symbian browser.

Im looking for a new smart phone and Im having a tough time. Ive recently landed my eyes on the nokia E65 and think its absolutely gorgeous. there’s a slight problem though. Please see this info from the specs of the E65

I did intend to buy this phone… until I started using the internet on the cell phone a little more actively (new flat rate plans here in Portugal, for 7.5Euro/month) and decided I should look for a qwerty keyboard for some real twittering/blogging!
I have looked into the E61i… seems VERYYY interesting!
Any ideas??
Thanks
PS: Sorry for “reviving” a somewhat old post!
Hi Levi,
The E61 did not make any experience myself with this one but could be interesting. Have you ever looked at the E90 from Nokia? http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4353371
Re: E61 (no experience myself) Do a quick internet search on E61 and WLAN – seems there are (were) some problems here: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=e61+wlan&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a
Also some interesting reading re the E90 or E61: http://vowe.net/archives/008558.html
The N95 from Nokia does not have a querty keyboard and the battery usage is high if you use it as a browser, GPS etc pp – but also a cool phone!
Thanks for reading – regards André

Hi Andre,
You praise the E65 for its WiFi performance, yet many others (including myself) aren’t getting a stable WLAN connection from either their home or a HotSpot wireless router. Many forums have large sections about this problem – it even seems that Nokia acknowledged an S60 bug that causes this. Do you know anything about this problem and whether or not Nokia is planning a firmware upgrade that fixes it?
Thanks,
Uriel
Uriel,
you might want to check if you have the latest firmware then you can fiddle around with the Wlan settings.
This instruction gave me somewhat better signal.

Good luck,

Thanks, Sven, I’ll give it a try. Firmware upgrade is a different story altogether: I know there is a new firmware for E65 but not for my particular build code (0515712)… I’ve been checking the Nokia web site for many weeks now, to no avail.
I have E65 and it worked great.
You should check every software you want to install, because if you don’t do that E65 can be very slow.
My skype doesn’t work with e65 and 3 net.
I found your blog on google and read a few of your other posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the good work. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.
Cheers for all the help and tips, Symbian can be funny, imagiane if we had to do this kind of thing with Windows!
